INSTITUTIONAL SEMINAR
In-depth scientific and technical work carried out by the BiMIA laboratory
The Institute for Modeling and Technological Innovation (IMIT), which operates with two branches (CONICET-UNNE), is pleased to announce the significant interest generated by its recent Institutional Seminar, entitled "BiMIA... Forensic Expertise for a Multinational," as part of the 2025 Institutional Seminar Series.

The lecture was given by Dr. Olga M. Vasek, head of the BiMIA Group and a distinguished professional in Chemistry and Microbiology. In her presentation, Dr. Vasek shared a revealing case study about her participation as an expert witness in a lawsuit against a major multinational company in the food sector.
This seminar provided an exceptional opportunity to learn in detail about the rigorous scientific and technical work carried out in the BiMIA laboratory, as well as its significant impact on the resolution of this complex legal process.
The event was held in a hybrid format, allowing for in-person participation in the Graduate Classroom of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences and Surveying at UNNE, or virtual participation through the Google Meet platform, via the link: https://meet.google.com/daa-nbcw-djz.
During the seminar, Dr. Olga Vasek detailed the exhaustive scientific investigation process that was carried out after being summoned as an expert witness in the lawsuit against the multinational food company. Once her participation was accepted by the judge in charge of the case, the disputed sample was transferred to the BiMIA laboratory under strict chain of custody, with the presence of technicians and lawyers from both parties.
The presentation outlined five months of intense work that culminated in a 49-page technical report, including 70 photographs. After four years of appeals and clarifications, the judge issued a ruling in favor of the plaintiff, highlighting the crucial contribution of BiMIA to clarifying the facts.
