Interview with IMIT Institute Director Dr. Gustavo Aucar on his visit to Shanghai, China
The school will bring together world-renowned scientists for an introduction to group theoretical methods and computational tools needed to describe phase transitions and their symmetry-mode analysis, comparison between crystal structures, magnetic symmetry and its applications in describing magnetic structures, etc. In the context of new frontiers of materials science research, special topics such as chirality in solid state physics, continuum symmetry measurements, chirality in magnetism, chiral phonons, chirality and relativity will be discussed.
The invitation has been received for the "Workshop on chirality in solid state physics and quantum materials", to be held in Shanghai between June 15 and 21, with the central objective of learning about the applications of symmetry properties in condensed matter physics, which have become of utmost importance at the forefront of chemistry and materials science.
To unravel the microscopic mechanisms underlying the intriguing physical properties of complex materials, advanced computational tools are often required to describe crystal symmetries and their impact on the electronic and magnetic structure of the materials.
