Dr. Oscar Orfeo offered an updated summary of the surface geology of Corrientes, with emphasis on the appearance and development of the Paraná River and the Iberá Wetlands. Based on the outcropping rocks, the landscapes that formed and form part of the provincial territory before the current climatic and geographic conditions were interpreted. In addition, topics related to the geological processes that have occurred over time to the present day were discussed.
The geology of the province of Corrientes is of great relevance due to its location in the Plata basin, which includes the Paraná and Uruguay rivers. These rivers play a fundamental role in shaping the landscape and the geological history of the region. Likewise, the Iberá Wetlands, with their particular geology, are also a distinctive element of the province.
