2025, International Year of Quantum Sciences

Dr. Omar Osenda, president of the Argentine Physics Association, highlights the importance of this discipline and the role of IMIT CONICET-UNNE in the development of quantum technologies.

On the centenary of Werner Heisenberg's fundamental work on quantum mechanics, UNESCO declared 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Sciences and Technologies (IYQ2025). This initiative, which began in the Mexican Physical Society and was adopted by various countries, seeks to make visible the transformative potential of these emerging technologies.

"It is not just a scientific year," explains Dr. Omar Osenda, president of the Argentine Physics Association (AFA) to UNNE Medios. Osenda has a PhD in Physics and is an independent researcher at CONICET in the area of Quantum Mechanics and Statistical Mechanics. He carries out his activities at the Enrique Gaviola Physics Institute (Córdoba) and collaborates on different projects with scientists from UNNE's FaCENA, where he has attended courses on a couple of occasions.
